Thomas Channell Arts Management was originally founded in 2011 in Berlin, Germany, and relaunched in 2016.
South African Arts Manager Thomas Channell has numerous years of experience in the international performing arts field. He previously held the position of Vice President and Artist Manager at IMG Artists, representing singers, conductors and stage directors, as well as managing touring projects out of the company’s Berlin office. Prior to this he was a Vice President and Artist Manager at Columbia Artists Management Inc. (CAMI) based in New York and Berlin. He holds a Master’s degree in Arts Administration from Columbia University in New York, where he studied on a Fulbright Scholarship. During his studies in New York he also worked at Roundabout Theatre Company and Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. He holds a Bachelor of Music Honours degree and a Bachelor of Arts (Music) degree, both from the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa, where he studied piano and voice. As producer, writer, composer and performer his work has been featured at the Amsterdam Fringe Festival, the Volksbühne and Admiralspalast in Berlin, Lincoln Center, the Baxter Theatre in Cape Town, the Oude Libertas Amphitheatre and Woordfees in Stellenbosch, and the National Arts Festivals in Grahamstown, Oudtshoorn and Potchefstroom, South Africa. He has also engaged with leading arts organisations as strategic and development consultant.
